about ribier gardens

The Ribier Story

Rooted in Idaho’s high mountain desert, Ribier Gardens is a flower farm built on devotion — to the soil, the seasons, and the art of growing exceptional dahlias.

What began in 2016 as a small family farm growing fruits and vegetables for the Boise Farmers Market and the Boise Co-op has since blossomed into one of the Northwest’s most trusted names in cut flowers and dahlia tubers.

That first year, on the advice of a wedding florist, we planted 5,000 tulips and 600 peonies — not knowing where or if they would sell. Among them were a few dahlia tubers, gifted by a friend. The moment those first dahlias bloomed, we were hooked. Their color, form, and resilience became the heartbeat of the farm.

By 2017, our tulips had found eager homes at local markets and in the hands of floral designers, inspiring us to grow further. That same year, we attended an on-farm workshop at Floret and returned home with new knowledge, inspiration, and a deeper commitment to the craft.

In 2018, the farm celebrated its first peony harvest and welcomed its first baby — marking a season of profound growth, both in the field and in life. We also began selling our first dahlia tubers, sharing the varieties we loved most with gardeners across the region.

Through each passing season, the dahlia patch expanded. Our second child was born in 2020, and the rhythm of family life wove naturally into the cycles of the farm.

Breeding for the Future

In 2023, Ribier Gardens entered a new chapter — hybridizing dahlias specifically bred to thrive in the unique conditions of our high mountain desert. Unlike dahlias developed in cloudy or coastal climates, our breeding program focuses on strength, heat tolerance, and lasting performance in full sun.

Each cross begins as an act of curiosity and devotion — seeking to bring forward varieties that are not only beautiful, but resilient. Every seedling is evaluated for form, color, and vigor, and only a small handful are selected to continue the lineage.

Our goal is simple: to cultivate dahlias that reflect both the artistry of nature and the demands of our changing climate.

With the rebrand of Ribier Gardens in 2025 and our first exclusive hybrids set to debut in Fall 2027, this journey continues — rooted in years of experimentation, observation, and love for the land.

The Ribier Difference

Every flower we grow and every tuber we ship carries the same care that started this journey. We believe in building trust through quality, transparency, and stewardship of the soil — so that each dahlia you grow carries a story that began right here, in the Idaho sun.

Meet Jen

Before she was a flower farmer, Jen was a lawyer — drawn to detail, precision, and the pursuit of something meaningful. Over time, that pursuit led her out of the courtroom and into the field, where she discovered a different kind of truth: one rooted in soil, sunlight, and the steady rhythm of growing things.

What began as a small experiment in farming became a full-time calling. Today, Jen’s expertise in both the art and science of cultivation drives Ribier Gardens’ breeding program and commitment to excellence. Her work blends curiosity with discipline — bridging the analytical and the intuitive, the structured and the wild — to create dahlias that are as resilient as they are beautiful.

Rooted in Integrity

At Ribier Gardens, every decision begins with respect — for the land, for the craft, and for the people who bring flowers to life. What we grow is more than beauty; it’s a reflection of care, patience, and intention.

From each hand-grown seedling to every carefully packed tuber, our work is guided by the belief that excellence comes from devotion — and that the most lasting blooms are the ones grown with integrity.
